Lockheed L-1049 Super Constellation Air Ceylon (Herpa)

When Air Ceylon partnered with KLM, they leased two Lockheed L-1049 Super Constellations from KLM. This aircraft here was named ‘Mahadevi’ and was in service from 1958 to ’59.

Herpa has done a nice reproduction of this particular airplane.  On the downside they took some shortcuts which compromise the overall appearance of the model.

There is no bare metal finish, instead Herpa chose to paint the plane in silver, but much worse than that are the propellers:

Herpa attached the propellers with fixed hubs. Herpa, this looks aweful!

The tripple tail design and long thin wings are the distinctive feature of every ‘Connie’!
